AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) is a trade association that supports the development and growth of Australian independent music, currently representing 350 record labels and in turn approximately 2,500 Australian acts.

The AIR Awards, held for the first time in 2006 signalled something new in the Australian music industry. The AIR Awards differ from every other music awards in Australia - they provide recognition of outstanding achievements by 100% Australian independent artists!

The awards are designed to honour the quality and diversity of Australian talent. Past winners have included the John Butler Trio, Sneaky Sound System, British India (pictured above), Midnight Juggernaughts and Gotye.

Award partners include Jagermeister, Fasterlouder.com.au, V Energy and destra entertainment.
